4 different storys about people and numbers – bound to a book. In collaboration with the agency visu'l AG (graphics & concept) and Franziska Freiermuth (text) I was given the oportunity to document 4 characters in their surroundings. A professional poker player, an architect, an artist and a cook.
An experienced fiduciary uses numbers to form a coherent picture for his customer, which reflects his values and purpose.

Is mathematics a human invention or the logic of the universe?
Roland Bachmann is a professional poker player from Bern. The former teacher is fascinated by the endless possibilities of this game, which rewards those who are not guided by their feelings in the moment, but can extend their perspective over a multitude of moves and games. "Poker is an oasis of rationality," says Bachmann. "Everything is logical and rational. Whoever makes the best decisions wins.
Marc Reist is an artist and sculptor from Schnottwil, whose works confront the philosophical and scientific questions of the universe and find repetitive patterns and traces in the micro- and macrocosm. Observing, comparing - the human perspective is only one mm possible perspective. And for him, creativity begins where one is prepared to think differently than before. Reist: "Art is always also meaningful. It stimulates, it changes the direction of kneeling, it sets in motion."
Martin Sturm from Langnau in the Emmental is the architect of the original Franz Gertsch Museum in Burgdorf in 2002 and the sculptural extension in 2019. He is a person who has a lot to tell and yet does not like to talk about his work. He doesn't look back, he prefers to go forward and create. Sturm does not begin with the building itself, but with the surrounding space: "How a building positions itself on a site and enters into dialogue with its surroundings is almost more important than the building itself".
Lukas Bader from Solothurn is a young chef on his way to becoming a top chef. The courses of his career read like an elaborately created teating menu - Bader has completed stages with Andreas Caminada, the Roca brothers and Massimo Bottura, among others, and is currently cooking as a sous chef in the gourmet restaurant Prato Borni in Zermatt. But far from being fed up with these extraordinary impressions and inspirations, Bader remains hungry. "I am a passionate cook. I want to make as many experiences as possible and learn from the best".
