JANMA | Childrens' Education Fund PLNN Hospital Lukla Nepal. The idea for this project came about one evening in Lukla (in the Nepalese Himalayas) in November 2013. During a dinner with Nicole Niquille, the founder of the PLNN Hospital Lukla the discussion revolved around the very high mortality of babies and mothers in Nepal and especially in the Himalayas. From the beginning the hospital offered pre-birth counseling and assistance at birth. Fact is, that the mortality of the children born in the hospital and that of their mothers is considerably lower than that of babies born at home in remote villages. Therefore the question was: How can pregnant mothers in the Lukla area be motivated to give birth in the hospital? Our solution is to better inform the parents and to offer the school fees of the children paid to the end of their schooling. To this day (1. December 2016) we have had 110 Kids who were born at the hospital and which will have a scholarship by Janma.org.
